that post below was from the Cool Kids @ studio B last night. the show was incredible, probably one of the best from this coming year, and the energy was higher than that of a cmj/sxsw type show.
as usual, click the picture to see the rest.
the photos are now up along with the review at SPIN's website.

Kevin Devine/ARS review and photos
So the kind folks at www.looserecord.com have let me become a regular contributor, starting with photos for the Au Revoir Simone show (click the photo to see the review).
They also let me take photos of the Kevin Devine show AND write the review (again, click the photo).
I'll be shooting/writing the Drug Rug show come February as well!

My Favorite Picture of All Time
That I can think of now, at least. Shot by Neil Leifer, it is a picture of Baltimore Colts Fullback Alan Ameche scoring a game winning TD in overtime over the Giants. What makes it so special? Aside from the fact that it's a great moment with the collisions, the players on the ground staring, and the snow falling, look up and into the background.
This game, dubbed "The Greatest Game Ever Played," was played at Yankee Stadium in 1958. Just seeing that in the background gives me chills.

having good friends with giant tv's.
50% of my football viewing this weekend was on a tv 40 inches or bigger.

rough draft
i just broke google maps, but in doing so was able to sketch out the roughest of versions of my proposed contiguous state tour, aka road trip all across the country. It does include travel in every state, even if g-maps was trying to tell me not to. there are a few essentials for a trip of this caliber.
1. you must stay with as many people, not hotels, as possible. saves lots of $
2. you must travel through Albuquerque, if only to be able to make a joke about making a wrong turn there
3. national landmarks are optional, tourist traps are more desirable. the Tourist Trap to National Landmark ratio for the trip should be at least 2 to 1, if not higher.
I'll keep adding to this list as I think of things. suggestions?
